If, however, a hygrometric formula based

upon observations with Aseman's aspiration psychrometer

is finally adopted, the readings of unaspirated thermometers

would have to be reduced to the readings of Assman's in-

-strument, and the latter would be the standard of

reference at all first class Observatories.

It seems difficult to settle the matter

satisfactorily by correspondence, and I suggest that the

question be re-opened at the next International Conference.
